I have long been interested in how our perception
of reality is coded by subjectivity, and how photography as a
medium is capable of re-creating infinitely these multiple perceptions.
From my early works up to present, I initiated
a personal conversation between photography and the body, as
a tool to relate my own autobiographical issues with non-narrative
staged scenes.
Images of feminine and masculine body parts have
been the visual structure by which I create my discourse. The
use of the body has also addressed the concerns of memory, cultural
icons, personal experience -visual diaries- and more recently,
reflections upon social issues such as violence, fear and faith,
among others.
I have recently started to produce video based
works that accompany my photographic series. I am currently working
upon the relation between the obsessive and the notion of physical
beauty in our society. My intention is to paroxize the contemporary
obsession related to physical modifications, i.e. surgery, implants,
etc. Other thematic interests are the connection between the
notion of the house in relation to the body, as a repository
of life experiences and cycles.
