BIO: Born 1963 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Ada Bobonis has exhibited for two decades in Puerto Rico, Spain and the United States. Her most recent solo exhibit was “Sensible States” at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico in 2007. She received a public art commission for the Rio Piedras Urban Train Station in 2003. Recent group exhibits include Arco Contemporary Art Fair 1997 (Madrid, Spain) and Painted Bride Art Center 2001(Philadelphia, PA).
Upcoming projects include a solo exhibit at Espacio 1414 and the CIRCA Art Fair (San Juan, PR). Bobonis was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant in 2005, and was artist-in-residence at the Santa Fe Art Institute, New Mexico in 2006. She received a BFA in painting from the University of Barcelona, Spain. Currently head of the painting department of the Escuela de Artes Plasticas, she lives and works in San Juan.
